After shooting the inaugural Graduation and opening of the new sports pitch at Le Régent International School Crans-Montana in summer 2020, I was very happy to be asked back this May to take the student, family and class portraits for the school year 2020/21.
Following weeks of rain, it was a relief when the day dawned dry - if very chilly! - so I could take the photographs outside in Le Régent’s beautiful natural surroundings. However, midway through the portraits of the Bilingual Infant School, the sky darkened and it began to snow lightly. The wee ones are made of strong stuff though - there may have been a little shivering, but there were still big smiles!
The sun returned for the older students, all of whom were a pleasure to photograph - friendly, fun and relaxed - and it was particularly lovely to capture the bond between brothers, sisters and cousins in the family portraits, and between the soon-to-be graduating Year 13 IB class and their friends.
As I drove back home at the end of the day through the Rhone valley, between snow-peaked mountains slicing spiky silhouettes into the blue sky, I was already looking forward to returning to the warm (figuratively, at any rate!) and welcoming atmosphere of Le Régent in a few weeks to photograph their Fête de Fin d'Année…
